The “BER Airport - Terminal 1-2” train station lies directly under Terminal 1, on level U2. With the arrival of a special train, Deutsche Bahn will officially open the airport station on the 25th October.

BER possesses two parallel runways, which can operate independently of one another due to their lateral distance of 1,900m. Both runways will be in use from the 4th November, thus making the airport fully operational.

Airlines say goodbye to Tegel Airport. On the 7th November, many of them will be taking off from their usual airport for the last time.

On the 8th November, the last plane will take off from Tegel Airport. As early as the 1st October, the citizens of Berlin will be given the chance to once more say goodbye to Tegel in person by visiting the Visitor Terrace.

Media Mailing List sign-up

Registration on the media distribution list is a prerequisite for the invitation to accreditation. The invitation for accreditation will be sent to you automatically after successful registration.

We offer all media representatives who have registered with our media newsletter for commissioning the opportunity of being accredited for the opening days. The invitation for accreditation will be sent to you upon successful registration in the media distribution list.

After receiving your accreditation application, we will check it and you will receive a confirmation in due course. If you are successfully accredited, the following offer is available to you:

  • Access to the press centre at BER around the clock from 30 October to 4 November 2020
  • Filming permits in the public area at BER and Tegel Airport (different periods depending on the location: 25 October to 8 November 2020 for Terminal 5 and Tegel Airport, 31 October to 8 November 2020 for Terminal 1)
  • Access to the visitors' terrace in BER, Terminal 1 from 1 November to 8 November 2020
  • Access to the mixed zone at BER and Tegel Airport for interviews and discussions

You can find an overview of other planned press events under dates. Separate invitations will be sent out for these dates.

Note on press dates: We ask for your understanding that due to the regulations to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated reduction of capacities, only a limited number of seats are available for each event.

Our Press Centre is located in the Steigenberger Hotel, in the immediate vicinity of Terminal 1. In the period from 30th October to 4th November, accredited journalists can find direct contacts from corporate communications as well as a suitable space to work. The technical requirements for a good workplace, e.g., seating, internet, drinks, will be provided. Due to corona, only 74 seats can be offered.

Directions to Terminal 1/2 BER

Registration for the BER media distribution list is a prerequisite for later accreditation and thus the use of the press centre.

Media representatives can obtain their accreditation and receive their accreditation documents at the press centre at the following times:

  • 30.10. 6am-6pm
  • 31.10. 6am-midnight
  • 01.11. 4am-4pm
  • 02.11. 8am-6pm
  • 03.11. 8am-6pm
  • 04.11. 8am-6pm
  • 05.11. 8am-4pm
  • 06.11. 8am-4pm
  • 07.11. 8am-6pm
  • 08.11. 8am-6pm

To collect your documents, please have your identity card or passport ready, as indicated during online accreditation. Please also present the attached personal ticket from the confirmation e-mail and, if applicable, the tickets of your accompanying persons.

From 5 November onwards, you can collect your accreditation documents in the BBAC event room, Willy-Brandt-Platz 2. On 7 and 8 November, accreditation will be possible directly at Tegel Airport.

With the commissioning of BER, the general conditions for photography and filming are again subject to change.

Accredited media representatives receive filming permits for the public sector:

  • BER: Terminal 5 and Willy-Brandt-Platz from 25 October to 8 November; Terminal 1 from 31 October to 8 November
  • Tegel Airport from 25 October to 8 November

Please note that for capacity reasons, photo and filming is currently possible almost exclusively in the public area.
